School is closed Thursday, March 18

All school district facilities will be closed tomorrow, March 18, and employees are asked to work from home.

The National Weather Service has called for the threat of severe weather, including high winds, hail, dangerous lightning and possible tornados, on Thursday. All after school activities and athletics are cancelled. This decision was made in consultation with Georgetown County Emergency Management and the National Weather Service.

Georgetown County School District will have an eLearning Day on Thursday, March 18. Asynchronous assignments will be posted tomorrow by teachers for students to complete and submit by Friday, March 26. Once these assignments are submitted, students will be marked “present” for the eLearning day. Failure to complete and submit assignments by March 26 will result in the student being marked “absent” for the eLearning day.

Friday, March 19, will remain a scheduled Staff Development Day in GCSD. Normal operations for students will resume on Monday, March 22.

New GCSD Attendance Policy - Effective 1/11

On January 11 (and moving into Second Semester), the district will implement a revised attendance policy for virtual and remote learning. When students are learning asynchronously, they will have 2 days to complete the assignments to be marked present for the day. If the student does not complete the assigned work for the day during the two-day window, they will be given an unexcused absence. It is at the discretion of the teacher to accept the work for a grade, but the attendance will not change. If you have any questions, please contact the school.
