WASA was formed in the Fall of 2001 with the intention of starting a club at WHS for students interested in aviation. Since then, WASA has been in existence allowing students, teachers, parents, and many others to take part in WASA activities throughout the years. Participants in WASA study aviation by experiencing flight through the building and flying of model rockets and flying Radio Control aircraft including airplanes, helicopters and drones. Our participants also enjoy flying kites in single line and dual line. We enjoy flying paper aircraft and experimenting with different designs.

Finally, another way we study aviation is to get into the real thing. WASA participates in the Young Eagles Program through the Georgetown County Airport and fly in a real airplane and receive instruction on aviation and flying from the pilot or pilots. We have also enjoyed flying in helicopters at Myrtle Beach. If you are interested in aviation then please consider joining WASA. We look forward to seeing you at our meetings. We meet every Thursday from TBA in the Media Center Studio Room 507.

Parents must sign a club permission form for students to be in WASA. Forms will be handed out during the first meeting. If you have not signed a form please click on Forms at the top of this page and print and sign. Turn signed forms in to Mr. Pritchard in the Media Center.

WASA will begin meeting on TBA.  Parents make sure students have transportation home. The meetings are from TBA.  We need to discus club business and meeting dates outside of school.

Thanks, Alan W. Pritchard/WASA Advisor and Scott D. Streiffert Co-Advisor
